Everything you want from a Flame Lead - an ordered and calm approach, a great eye for detail, a spark of creativity and of course being a delight to work with too!

Roman Lukyanov Executive Producer at Glassworks

I’m a lead Flame artist with a full suite of everything you need to complete your TV commercial VFX & post. I assemble multiple edits & complex comps. I’m dead quick, and I’m dead good, which is why most of the time, with a fair wind behind me, I'll head up your team or assemble my own.

I started working on commercials two decades ago in London’s Soho. Yes, I’m knocking on a bit. I’m not as lithe and limber as I used to be. But I’m packed with experience, insight, and digital weaponry. I certainly don’t flap or get flustered like a spring chicken these days.

When my career was in its infancy, so too was the industry. I cut my teeth working with global superstar clients like George Michael, back when music videos were big-budget, with all the bells and whistles. We did it all at night too, so we could move on to a club after we wrapped. Those days are gone, but not the buzz of a job well done.

Stepping out from a junior role, having learned the ropes, I freelanced around the city, with pit stops at Rushes, MPC, Smoke & Mirrors, and Glassworks. A decade later, I’d earned my stripes, and settled down (a bit). It was time to take on more responsibility and prove my credentials, so I moved to a steady full-time job as Head of VFX at Publicis Sapient, working mainly on their Sky account. A stint at Prodigious followed, where I provided VFX supervision and camped out in their Saatchi office.

But this isn’t a job interview. And CV’s aren’t always fun to read. Want to know whether I have the skills to deliver your job? Check out my work. I believe it speaks for itself. I work with the world’s biggest brands: Google, Toyota, Facebook, Guinness, Beats by Dre, Ralph Lauren, Mini Cooper…. and there’s more in the pipeline right now.

I won’t lie to you. At times, especially in the early days, it was a slow and confusing process. There’s been some guesswork. Occasionally, the waters have been almost too choppy to navigate. But that’s the game. It’s been fun. And it’s been wild. I’ve solutioned my way through the tiniest of gaps (think Indiana Jones…hat.) Bold gambles have brought in victories that far outweigh the episodes of head-scratching. There’s never been a plan B. Behind the jagged trajectory lies a rock-solid curve that has only ever pointed upwards. In 2017, the moment that Flame was unleashed from its hardware shackles, I was off. Looking back, I can say that it’s all worked out beautifully.

I’m top tier these days, with a constant choice of high profile projects. I’m more than comfortable calling the shots.

What can u expect? I’m a pixel polisher and picture pulveriser, streeeeeetching and squeeeeeezing images until they break apart. I piece them back together in bolder and better ways, manhandling the material to show it who’s boss. I’m details obsessed, analytical & scientific. I’ll absorb until I understand; then I’ll see the fix. I take liberties with the truth & with sleight of hand, make changes that appear to be magic. That’s why I will often surprise you by pulling something outrageous of the hat at the eleventh hour. Maybe you thought I just played with pictures all day?😉

I’m a wry, upfront, ever so slightly daft Glaswegian. A cheery disposition & a family guy at heart. Married to Helen, with two rugrats, a hound by the hearth. A suburban studio in South West London; the product of hard work, luck, unstoppable self-belief, and the thick skin you need to be a London-based creative.

I couldn’t have it any other way.

I spend my (mostly) happy and (nearly always) productive days working on Flame as creative director and VFX supervisor. It's all remote these days. I’m a safe pair of hands, with a wicked creative streak. Working with me is never dull.

I’m a straight talker. I have never had a problem saying what I think on creative grounds. If something feels wrong, I call it - whether that means fiddling around for days on laborious, meticulous work, or making a bold call that changes the direction of a project in a heartbeat, for a faster, better outcome.

I work quickly. With intensity. I’m a problem solver. A solution finder. I'm super friendly & always approachable. If that's not enough, I love sharing knowledge, getting clear on the goal, joining the dots; piecing the puzzle together to make the whole.
